Christa: Minnesota Makers

We are a local gift store with two locations featuring the work of over 100 Minnesota artists. We also offer a variety of craft classes.

Let us know more about your business name - how did you come up with it?

Our name represents who we are: over 100 local Minnesota Makers. From International Falls to Austin, we have artists from all over the state represented in the store. We love to tell their stories and share their work.

What is your signature style / item? How did it become so?

We really seek to tell the stories of the artists and their products. We want you to get to know them and their work so you have more than a physical item to take home, you have a connection.

What makes your business unique to the industry?

Our stores sell only items created by Minnesota artists. We are true to our roots and we love to celebrate all things local art. We also believe everyone can and should be a maker, which is why we have fun classes.

How has your business had to adapt amidst the Covid-19 Pandemic? What are you doing to navigate the situation?

Our biggest roadblock to business has been the COVID experience. We moved a lot of our products online, we offered curbside pick up, and we created craft kits to help keep folks busy and creative during quarantine. Now that we are back to being open for business, we have our COVID prevention plan in place and make sure to clean regularly to ensure the safety and well being of employees and customers.

What is your favorite part of what you do?

Knowing that we are a part of and connected to the local artist community. We have the very good fortune of partnering with incredibly talented people. We love seeing the work of the artists evolve over the years we work with them, while also connecting with new artists all the time.

What is your *must do* local activity?

Robbinsdale is an up and coming community featuring some great restaurants and local faves. We recommend a visit to our store, followed by a scrumptious artisan pizza at Pig Ate My Pizza, and nightcap and desert at Nonna Rosa Italian Restaurant.
