Cute Laces is all about individual style and self expression, I listen to my customers on what they like or what they are looking for. The most popular style/s are leopard print, tie dye and the red bandana.
I like to design everyday lifestyle products which push boundaries, transform into works of art, and which you are dying to show off.
I realized my obsession with handbags could embody a lot of my interests. I decided to design a bag that had a structured, European look, but with a twist. By using colorful, smooth, glitter vinyl fabric, I made my bags look like desserts. The glitter vinyl fabric also reminds me of my favorite sparkle drum sets. I really like that this material is durable and vegan.
It all started when RoHo founder, Caleigh Hernandez, fell in love with a pair of beautiful beaded leather sandals in a craft market in East Africa. She brought a pair back for herself and her mom, who went crazy for them. And so the year-long quest began to find the best quality sandals (and other unique products).
I believe the element of hand in a lot of things I make is fairly unique to the paper goods industry. In a sea full of digitally printed greeting cards, you can feel the texture of the ink and paper quality with mine.
CASUPO is the name of a beautiful mountain in my hometown of Valencia, Venezuela. It is a tribute to my roots and our efforts to make eco conscious choices when it comes to sourcing responsible materials and also giving back to our community.
I use vintage barn wood, it’s not an easy material to work with but provides so much character to my finished pieces.
I love when my prints arrive and when I finish an item and put the little tag on it. Every time it makes my heart skip a beat. I'm incredibly grateful that this is my work.
Simple and classy. I wanted my products to be durable and stand the test of time. If you look at one of my wallets or bags 20 years from now I expect them to still look desirable to anyone.
Our signature style is snarky and funny and I would say our signature item is our coffee and cocktail stainless steel stirrers.
I think recycling and making everyday items from something unique like an old Skateboard deck is the coolest. The amazing designs and colors always make it amazing.
I love neutral, classic styles. My best selling item is the ribbed knit hat that I started selling from the beginning. It's so comfy to wear (especially in merino wool) and since it's stretchy and breathable, you'll have minimal hat hair!
When I first started my business I only used recycled wool, hence the first part of my business name "Wool". But I had a feeling that I would eventually branch out into other fibers, hence the "Spice" which includes everything else I work with. As I've evolved, the "Spice" is also all the extra things I do to my product and I often tell customers that I add spice to my work.
I love the "reveal" when I unfold a bundle that I have have dyed. Each piece is different. Variations in the steaming temperature and duration, plant materials, and minerals can variances in the result. Its always new and different.
We source fabric from different parts of the world so you really get a sense of each culture within the fabric. Embroidered skirts from the Hmong tribe in Thailand or Mudcloth from Africa, they all have special characteristics that make them all so interesting.
We believe that you should WAKE UP & PLAY OUTSIDE... so why not have an item that has a couple of functions along with looking super cool.. Like our blanket bags they we repurpose blankets into our rad blanket bags.
My favorite part of my job is being able to come up with an idea and designing it on the fly and seeing people love it as much as I do!
I feel what makes my business unique to the industry is the versatility of the medium I chose to work in. Needle felting enables me to sculpt, embroider or embellish wool felt to make so many unique designs. Mini paintings, mini sculptures, jewelry, blind boxes, dolls...there are so many possibilities. Not many mediums provide this versatility.
