Cute Laces is all about individual style and self expression, I listen to my customers on what they like or what they are looking for. The most popular style/s are leopard print, tie dye and the red bandana.
I started sewing my own clothes as a teenager, but buying new fabric from chain stores was expensive and often out of reach. One day, while I was making a dress to wear to a friend's wedding, I decided to use a vintage curtain I purchased from a thrift store instead of traditional fabric. I loved how unique this made the dress, plus the use of second hand textiles had the added benefit of being eco-friendly. It was then that my love of up-cycling began
My favorite part of running the shop is providing my customers with really fun and unique items. I enjoy meeting every person that enters through my doors and enjoy seeing their discovery of unusual made goods. I also love sourcing all my merchandise and supporting under the radar artists. Every piece I have here is something I would wear or have in my house.
My most popular items are my tshirts with bold graphics. Simple, clean design, and usually only a one color design, which helps me keep the prices low for my customers!
Inspired by vintage clothing and embroidery of the 1950's. What customers ask for the most is to customize their jean jackets.
Our signature graphic is Super Camelback-- the design that started it all.
Benny, my husband, had become an avid regular on Camelback in the years since we moved to Phoenix in 2011.
For our anniversary the summer of 2017, I created the very first Super Camelback graphic by hand for him. The idea was a flash of inspiration one day, while I was greeting Ben coming home from his morning run.
I made the first template out of freezer paper, by hand. He began to wear the shirt on his Camelback sky runs. By April of 2018, we were having the first ones printed en masse and making our very first sales.
We now offer many variations of the Super Camelback graphic, as well as Super Piestewa, the Praying Monk Yin Yang, our Sandi the Camel icon and so many more on CamelbackCulture.com
All of my prints are from other countries making them very celebratory of many cultures. And all of the clothing is the softest, comfiest you will ever find!
I love the "reveal" when I unfold a bundle that I have have dyed. Each piece is different. Variations in the steaming temperature and duration, plant materials, and minerals can variances in the result. Its always new and different.
My business is quite unique to the industry because no two jackets are the same. Since everything is developed from sustainable clothing and hand-made from my personal expression or custom requests, there will never be another out there like what my customers are wearing. And again, these jackets are not quiet, they have a lot to say.
I consider what I make art, rather than a product, so I don't really position myself as a business. That allows me to be totally free in what I create, rather than boxed in to make "what sells" or to follow a trend or algorithm.
I remember I was at an outdoor event selling my products and a girl came up to me and said that one of my designs, my Wilderness design, spoke to her and made her soul happy. That is exactly why I do what I do! If I can make an impact in someones life and inspire them to follow their path then I have succeeded!
I love meeting people and what I do helps me reach a wide range of people from all walks of like. The most exciting/my favorite part of that, is meeting people who also love cc'ing the love. Can't tell you how many strangers I've hugged because they too love spreading good vibes. My fellow light bearers, keep on shining.
Preston and James stands out because I’m taking risks with my designs. I’m not afraid of painting wacky designs or putting snarky verbiage I like. In our market and time people want the weird and unique pieces, there’s just not enough brands out there doing it!
My favorite part of what I do is meeting all my beautiful customers and seeing Little Pieces come to life on them. Amazing venues such as Jackalope allow me to interact personally with my customers and discover how special they are.
Helping a customer choose a Little Piece and sharing in their excitement when they love it so much they walk out wearing it- that is the ultimate fulfillment!
I LOVE hearing from happy customers who believe in Equillibrium and all it represents from its CORE... I have customers who are fans from the lifestyle and hardcore board culture it came from, customers who know it from runway shows and having a solid couture offering from over 15yrs of shows, customers who like its sustainability, and those who know it and love for ALL OF THAT. It is truly an honor to be the vehicle such an amazing brand came through... beyond kool and 100% bitchn'!
As designers, our favorite part of STORY SPARK is being able to create new products and seeing the reactions that are garnered from them. There is just something magical about seeing one of your creations being enjoyed by another person.
My style is to alter something by hand sewing and crocheting into, and or adding crochet to something. To do this I start with an embroidery stitch (blanket stitch) with which to attach the crochet. I guess that's my signature style, hand stitching and crochet. But I also use a lot of funky bright colors, granny squares and mandalas.
