For over two decades, I was both a hairstylist and a salon owner, as well as the mother of two beautiful children. During the last few years of owning the salon, we happened upon an opportunity to adopt a beautiful baby girl that needed a forever family, and it was love at first sight. We went through a long adoption process and were ready to move forward with our family of five. But after several tragedies within my family, including the unexpected loss of my son, Avery, the devastation of these losses left me with the need for a new outlet for creativity. I wanted to channel my son's own artistic talents because it felt like a way to be connected to him. What I especially appreciated was the ability to work at my own pace in my own, quiet space. This resulted in products that are not only made with great care, but also represent the love my son left behind. Each piece in some way represents diversity, strength, kindness, care, compassion and a little bit of me and my family.

Let us know more about your business name - how did you come up with it?

My salon's name was The Reverie Salon, and my son's signature tattoo (he was a tattoo artist) was a rose. It was the first and only name I considered, and it just felt perfect. My logo is also one of his many roses.

What is your signature style / item? How did it become so?

I started off just making lightweight earrings. I always hated heavy earrings but loved statement earrings. Using materials like leather, cork, and wood was the perfect solution. I later expanded my offerings to bespoke decor (Custom signs, etc). I love the process of taking someone’s vision and creating a piece that speaks to their heart or makes a statement.

What makes your business unique to the industry?

I am very detail oriented and very in tune to the aesthetic of my creations. Even though my pieces are handmade I strive not only for them to be unique, but for symetry and consistency. I spend a little more time than people would probably expect on each one.

What's been your biggest roadblock when it comes to business and how have you been able to overcome?

My biggest roadblock has been myself. After my son passed, my world collapsed and honestly you just don't know how you are going to survive. Reentering society has been difficult, and I have only been able to take baby steps, so to speak. My work has been my therapy. The markets and craft fairs have helped me gain confidence in myself once again. I have met some of the most amazing and talented people as well.

How has your business had to adapt amidst the Covid-19 Pandemic? What are you doing to navigate the situation?

I would say not being able to do as many in person markets has been the hardest. I am very grateful for the virtual markets I have been able to participate in, and I am looking forward to starting back up again.

What is your favorite part of what you do?

I love seeing a finished product and getting to meet like-minded people.

What is your *must do* local activity?

I would have to say any event at Red Rocks. Concerts, movies, etc. It's just so beautiful there. It makes a great event even better. Plus, getting in is a good workout with a reward!
