I am a social worker, therapist, dog mom, and make ceramics as a way to heal from depression and have creative expression

Let us know more about your business name - how did you come up with it?

Tiny Namaste Pottery derived from my yoga practice and my yoga IG handle TinyNamaste. My ceramics began as being heavily influenced by my yoga practice with mindfulness mantras

What is your signature style / item? How did it become so?

I experiment a lot! I enjoy bright colors, dark colors, all types of clay firing temperatures, techniques etc. I am constantly learning and evolving in my ceramics practice through inspiration from politics, life, people, the world and things I believe in

What makes your business unique to the industry?

I am an Asian American social worker who creates art to self soothe and also advocating for human rights

What's been your biggest roadblock when it comes to business and how have you been able to overcome?

Limitation in resources and not being able to have a larger studio space. I make do with my limited resources but would like to have a larger kiln and place to make ceramics later on.

How has your business had to adapt amidst the Covid- 19 Pandemic? What are you doing to navigate the situation?

I launched my website the week of the shelter in place order, which was by coincidence. I was working on building my website for two months prior to the launch and felt disappointed that it didn’t really take off at the time. I am currently just going with the flow and continuing to do my work as I do normally.

What is your favorite part of what you do?

Experimenting! I love when I try a new technique and really enjoy the outcomes. My favorite parts of ceramics is throwing on the wheel and the end when I see the results. My least favorite part is trimming.

What is your *must do* local activity?

Going to local craft fairs and participating in them! I love seeing the work from other locals artists. I also love going to the local dog parks in Costa Mesa and Irvine with my dog as a past time. I also really love getting boba from Meet Fresh, HN Tea and 7 leaves.
