Tell us a little bit about who you are and what you do:

William: Woodif

William: Woodif

I am a stay at home dad (aren't we all now?) and artist. I've been into making and games since I was a kid. I remember making an amusement park, a drum set and pinball game in the woods behind our house. Years after meeting my wife in our band 20goto10 I finally went to art school. Where I dove into sculpture and my youthful instincts emerged and I started making games again.

Let us know more about your business name - how did you come up with it?

Woodif is a short hand for saying what if? and also mentions my main medium wood. I had been Boxwood Pinball, but the name was already trademarked.

What is your signature style / item? How did it become so?

Woodif started as an artist collaboration. The rush of working with other artists to create something special is what motivates me to keep creating objects.

What makes your business unique to the industry?

I grew up in the rust belt where businesses were falling apart and we lived surrounded by empty factories. I make sure that I work with other local businesses to create my games, I see them as fellow artisans at their craft.

What's been your biggest roadblock when it comes to business and how have you been able to overcome?

SELLING is always the hardest part for creative types. I am finally posting to Social Media and reaching out of my comfort zone to show people what I am doing. It has been fun and reassuring to share my creative process.

How has your business had to adapt amidst the Covid- 19 Pandemic? What are you doing to navigate the situation?

The Pandemic has meant that I will not get to be at any art or craft fairs this year. So I have invested time into social media and online vendors. Including my Shopify store and especially Amazon.

Our unique design reimagines the classic six sided die; count the segments of wood instead of the dots.

What is your favorite part of what you do?

I love game development, teasing the fun out of a simple mechanism, and seeing what people react to the most.

What is your *must do* local activity?

While I am new to Columbus we really enjoy the Urban Scrawl, a real celebration of Art for everyone that lifts up a struggling neighborhood.
